A full time Accountant/Accountancy Officer is required in Wakefield on a 3 month temporary contract.
The Accountant/Accountancy Officer Duties and Responsibilities will be: 1. Undertake specific support duties within the Finance Section 2. Fully participate in the team working approach to the allocation of duties within the Finance Section 3. Establish effective working relationships with officers of other Services Units and Departments 4. Ensure that departmental services are provided to the highest quality/standard with due recognition of client and customer requirements 5. To provide cover to other areas of work in response to changes in the workload and operational requirements.
Specific Tasks that the Accountant/Accountancy Officer Accountant/Accountancy Officer will do in conjunction with the Management/Financial Accountant: 1. To assist with the preparation of revenue and capital budgets within a defined group of services, within Corporate and Departmental Policy. 2. Input into the preparation of Revenue and Capital Reports, to an agreed timetable, together with narratives explaining significant variances. 3. Provision of financial advice and training (as required) on all aspects of budgetary management and control, treasury management, and on compliance with the finance and contract procedure rules. 4. Co-ordination and maintenance of control accounts, holding accounts and grant accounts. 5. Provision of financial statements and working papers as required to meet legislative and statutory requirements for example statement of accounts, taxation and treasury management issues. 6. Preparation of ad hoc financial reports as required by Management 7. Assistance with maintenance of the financial ledger 8. Development and maintenance of financial systems and processes
The Accountant/Accountancy Officer will be AAT or CCAB qualified, or currently actively studying towards these qualifications. Alternatively, applicants must have at least 3 years accountancy experience.
The AAT Accountant/Accountancy Officer must also have the ability to analyse and report financial information targeted to the needs of the recipient, use MS Office packages Excel,Word and Access and work effectively as part of a team.
