An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Area Manager to work for a Government Funded Agency in Surrey.
You will be required to: - Influence and support partners and colleagues in the development of economic strategies and opportunities within the sub-region to bring about economic growth in line with the RES and local strategies. - Proactively and constructively develop, manage and broker relationships across the 6 directorates with senior level partners to challenge behaviour and influence activity to ensure the most effective delivery of investment within the area - Provide high quality political and economic intelligence on the area, demonstrating a robust and accurate understanding of local priorities, relative priorities and the politics of the area - Ensure Executive Directors and Board Members are well briefed to provide leadership in the area, particularly providing advice on handling and recommendations on sub-regionally sensitive and challenging issues - Ensure the development of evidence based local economic development strategies challenging approaches and contributing to the development of high quality plans with appropriate targets/outcomes - Critically review existing activities and challenge colleagues and partners constructively to ensure that the totality of the agency's interests and interventions as they apply to the area are developed and delivered in a cost effective and high impact way, appropriate to the needs and opportunities of the area - Provide advice on the relevance of local priorities and robust guidance on the relative priority assigned to them - Effectively influence colleagues and partners on the investment priorities of the area that provide the maximum added value to the area
You will have: - Proven ability to think and act strategically, understanding the implications of national and regional policies relating to the area - Proven ability to exploit the interaction between policy, processes and behaviours in order to shape investment decisions and activities - Proven ability of working at a senior level in a complex political environment - The ability to analyse and absorb complex issues quickly and communicate them in a clear and concise manner with a range of audiences - A credible understanding of the technical aspects across the breadth of economic development and regeneration matters
You will be responsible for the East Sussex area and should be a strategic influencer above being a Project Manager
