Sports Coach Job Description:

  • Give advice and guidance to the client in order to improve their performance
  • Design and Implement training programmes according to the client’s ability and level
  • Evaluate and monitor client’s progress
  • Be motivational and encouraging
  • Detect strengths and weaknesses
  • Communicate instructions and commands coherently

  • Gyms
  • Hotels
  • Local clubs

    What qualifications / training do I need to be a Sports Coach?

  •  To be a qualified coach you must have a coaching qualification recognised by the National Governing Body of their chosen sport eg. NVQ or BTEC. For more information of courses available for your chosen sport go to Sports Coach UK
  • In addition, some employers prefer candidates to have a sports related degree or HND / foundation degree
  • As a sports coach you may be working with children, therefore you may need a Criminal Record check
  • Volunteering may be a good place to start as a step-in to sports coaching, in order to gain some insight and experience in the role. There are many amateur teams in need of part time workers or volunteers. Check out your local council for more information or go to Do-It for more volunteering opportunities

    Salary Details:

  • Typical starting salaries range from £14,000 to £22,000*
  • Senior Coaching jobs range from: £25,000 - £35,000*
