Our client, a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy, requires an Assistant / Town Planner to join their busy Manchester office. Offering support to the director and other senior planning professionals, as well as developing own planning work, within Manchester's Environment Planning and Transport business (EPT).
Specific duties could include:
Planning research and policy analysis Monitoring of the development plan process Preliminary site appraisals Preparation of minor planning applications and assistance with major applications Drafting of accompanying statements Preparation of/assistance with appeals Negotiations between parties within the development control process Technical assistance to inform retail and housing/employment land availability studies Providing written and verbal advice to clients on a variety of planning related queries.

Strong professional competence Knowledge of contemporary planning policy issues Knowledge of development control procedures The ability to achieve targets to agreed deadlines The ability to work under own initiative and to organise and set own priorities within a team environment The ability to deal positively with clients, consultants and local authorities

Qualifications:
A degree in Planning Working towards, or recently achieved, RTPI accreditation

Experience:
Some experience of working in a planning environment, either in the public or private sector Knowledge of retail planning would be desirable
