To carry out the assessment and reassessment of claims for Housing Benefits and the assessment and billing of liability for Council Tax using Academy.
Experience of using Academy is essential.
Candidate must have exp using Comino or Anite.
Process all applications for Housing Benefit and Council tax benefit with supervision as required.
Ensure that the information contained in the application form is obtained and verified in compliance with the requirements of the Verification Framework and that applications are processed within set timescales and in compliance with statutory regulations, council policy, operational procedures and performance indicators.
Determine claims for any irregularities, process any change in circumstances and/or refer to the Fraud section where appropriate, in accordance with Security Against Fraud and Error (SAFE) scheme.
Resolve and respond to written complex enquiries and telephone calls that may be complex and require investigation.
Liaise and establish links with internal sections/departments and external agencies as appropriate, in order to carry out the duties of this post efficiently.
Determine overpayments accurately to attract the correct subsidy and identify the appropriate person for recovery.
Maintain up to date record of liability for Council Tax to ensure the maximum collection of revenue is achieved.
Contribute to the first stage of the Appeal Process by determining and processing requests for reconsiderations, backdating as authorised by the Team Manager and advising claimants accordingly.
