My client who is based on the outskirts of Norwich City Centre is looking for a Carbon Management Officer on a 1 year fixed term contract.

The ideal candidate will be providing project management and administrative support to drive forward implementation of our clients Management Programme and climate change communications activity.

The following is the requirements for this role;

1. To provide effective project management support for the Carbon Management Programme by;

a. Actively pursuing progress on sub-projects and risks;
b. Reviewing and maintaining the Programme timeline and risk register, producing and circulating monthly updates;
c. Highlighting issues for attention/ decision by senior officers;
d. Providing secretariat support for the Carbon Management Group and Climate Change Board, ensuring dates, agendas and papers are coordinated well in advance in liaison with the Chair and Section Manager;

2. To produce a new baseline of the CO2 emissions that meets the requirements of National Indicator 185, by:

a. Updating the existing CO2 baseline to 2008
b. Adding new categories required under NI185 including establishment of a baseline for targeted outsourced services
c. Producing a single integrated baseline for NI185

3. To strengthen the team’s internal communications activity on climate change, by:

a. Ensuring key facts and figures, top tips and core brief are supplied to the communications team to support the internal energy efficiency communications campaign
b. Coordinate the design and content of a new intranet site for the team, including relevant links
c. Ensure the intranet site is kept up-to-date (monthly).

4. To manage the team’s budget, by:

a. Using an Excel spreadsheet to track expenditure, commitments and actuals
b. Coordinating a funding bid for the Carbon Management Programme in time for the financial planning round for Oct 08


· Excellent organisational skills
· Proven aptitude for statistics
· Communication and interpersonal skills, written and oral
· Resourcefulness and enthusiasm
· Degree in a related subject area
· Experience or good knowledge of climate change and carbon reduction issues
· Experience in using Excel spreadsheets and other Word applications
· Previous experience of project management and timeline planning would be an advantage
