To work within a Team which administers the Revenues Service so that the Council can identify, collect and recover all Council Tax and Business Rate legally due to the Council using Academy software.

Candidates must have recent experience working in both Council Tax and NNDR.

Provide advice and assistance to the public.

Gather information relating to occupation of properties subject to the Council Tax/ Business Rate, including personal circumstances relating to discounts, exemptions and reliefs to ensure that the correct information is shown on the Council's records.·

Ensuring that bills are issued promptly and accurately net of discounts, exemptions, reliefs and where appropriate Benefit, to ensure taxpayer/ratepayers have the full and correct information upon which to make payment and all legal requirements are met.·

Calculation of payment profiles and monitoring of payments received and the issue of reminders and summonses where late payment identified to contribute towards attainment of the relevant annual Performance Indicator Targets for collection.·

Review and monitor payment profiles and arrangements to maximise collection, ensure correct and timely recovery action is taken, including liaising with bailiffs, to ensure the Team can meet it's Best Value Performance Targets.·

Responsible for timely and accurate action relating to Direct debit instructions , including amendment of existing instructions, rejections from BACS runs and cancellations·

Deal with customer enquiries and provide accurate information in a polite, friendly and efficient manner in order to meet the Divisions commitment to a high level of Customer Care.·

To deal with defaulters ensuring that they understand the reasons for legal/bailiff action and to negotiate with them to agree a satisfactory arrangement while keeping sight of BVPI's on collection rates.·

Monitor Council Tax /Business rates accounts and ensure that any outstanding balance is actively being pursued .·

Deal with customer enquiries and provide accurate information in a polite, friendly and efficient manner in order to meet the unit's commitment to a high level of Customer Care.·

To attend the Magistrates Court and meet with customers Summonsed to appear in order to answer their queries and wherever possible make satisfactory arrangements for them to pay the outstanding balance·

To counsel debtors and regarding their debt to the Council·

To undertake all administrative work required ensuring the prompt and efficient processing of Revenues work to attain team targets.
