Our client, a highly prestigious West Midlands NHS organisation, is currently seeking a Deputy Director of Operations; Specialist Medicine. Reporting to the Director of Operations on a permanent basis, the post holder will be responsible for the provision of leadership, direction and financial control of all directorates within the division, contributing to and ensuring the delivery of strategic and operational objectives. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of specialist medicine services, including
DERMATOLOGYCLINICAL HAEMATOLOGY/ONCOLOGY RHEUMATOLOGYRESPIRATORY MEDICINE NEUROLOGYCARDIOLOGY RENALDIABETES
The post-holder will be responsible for ensuring the comprehensive development of all services, delivering quality-focused outcomes and robust assurance whilst adhering to financial control and performance targets. This will include
•Day-to-day, ad hoc support to the Director of Operations and, to act (as required) on their behalf to deliver strategic, operational and managerial leadership to the Medicine Board.
•Strategic leadership, performance and financial control of a portfolio of directorates, and through their direct line management to form the lead on business planning and performance management.
•Developing and ensuring the effective deployment of the organisations' Service, Transformation Strategy within and across all Medicine directorates.
•Ensuring key systems and procedures are in place to support the Division and enable the Trust to function effectively and efficiently, whilst ensuring development of Improvement Plans to include re-engineering of current practices.
•Implementing HR and governance strategies across the division.
•Controlling and co-coordinating operational management activities across the Division, leading and coaching the Directorate Managers within the clinical directorates.
Our candidate requires that post holder possess:
•Previous NHS experience of at least 5 years at a middle-management level.
•Experience of managing a large, complex and diverse service, including exposure to solving a range of operational and strategic problems involving HR and finance.
•Proven track record of delivering against set objectives and achieving key organisational targets; demonstrating continuous and quality improvements.
•Experience of developing the competencies of individual managers and teams of managers.
•Experience of incorporating patient/user views into the provision of hospital services.
•Experience of designing and implementing policy at organisational level.
