The London Borough of Hounslow is seeking to recruit Education Welfare Officers to work in multi professional Area Teams within the Targeted and Locality Services Division. The position of Education Welfare Officer requires a high standard of interpersonal and communication skills.
The postholder will be required to motivate and support children and families to overcome barriers to engage and participate in education. The post requires an enthusiastic professional with good negotiation skills, capable of developing excellent partnership working with schools, other professionals and agencies. It will be a requirement of the work to be able to follow through legal sanctions including parental non-attendance prosecutions, fixed penalty notices and orders in relation to education matters, anti-social behaviour and youth crime.
The Hounslow council places a high priority on regular attendance at school and has Public Service Agreement targets focusing upon the delivery of improved rates of attendance. This is an opportunity to join a responsive and committed team working in partnership with colleagues in other agencies. This is a high profile area of work where there is both a national and local focus.
