Nursery Nurse Job Description:
You will be responsible for looking after children aged between 0 and 7 years You will supervise the children and also be responsible for their physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs You will begin to educate the child in terms of basic learning skills they will need You will encourage them to develop socially If you are working with very young children, you will be responsible for feeding, washing and changing them, and generally tending to their physical needs You must adopt a safe and protective role to the child, and be aware of any potential dangers around them You will need to plan and participate in activities to entertain and teach the child, eg. Music, painting, reading etc. You will need to liaise with their parents and your surrounding team members, monitor progress, keep records and reports, and communicate any suggested improvements that can be made to help the childs development
Working Environment:Nursery nurse jobs are available in schools, hospitals, nurseries and day care centres, so can be quite varied. You may be expected to work long hours. You will obviously be working alongside the children most of your day, however you will need to liaise with parents and other nursery team members
What qualifications / training do I need to be a Nursery Nurse?
The best place to start is as a nursery assistant, and gain experience this way to aid you into Nursery Nurse position Some employers may take you on as a trainee, where you can study/train alongside you job. However most employers will require a qualification CACHE is the main qualification for working in childcare. To be a nursery nurse, you will need a Cache Level 3 Diploma in Child Care and Education or Cache NVQ Level 3 in Childrens Care, Learning and Development

Salary Details:
Typical starting salary of £9,000 to £11,500*, if you are still in training or do not have a lot of experience If you are qualified Nursery Nurse you can earn between £14,000 and £17,000* At management / supervisor / trainer level, salaries are up to £32,000* * These figures are a guideline only
