Our client is looking for a senior candidate to fulfil the role of Head of Patient Experience in Tameside for a 6 month period. This is only a partial descrition to give applicants a good idea of what is expected. JOB PURPOSE

1.Reporting to the Associate Director of Business Intelligence, Patient Experience and Demand Management the post holder will be responsible for managing the quality of patient experience, for devising and implementing soft intelligence strategies to support overall strategic objectives.

2.The postholder will also be responsible for aspects of the directorate's activity within the PCT, the PPI team within the PCT, ensuring effective operational management, service development / business planning, budget setting and management and staff management and leadership.

3.The Head of Patient Experience will be highly visible throughout the PCT, Patients and Public, Partners organisations, Statutory and Voluntary Agencies/Bodies; and will contribute to the Directorate Management Team and the development of the Directorate's strategic planning. Effective working across various Directorates and stakeholders will be a must.

4.The postholder will also have an external focus building strong clinical and managerial relationships and developing partnerships between providers and commissioners across Manchester.

Strategy

1.Develop; implement and performance manage an overall PCT Patient Experience Strategy incorporating Dignity in Care action measurables, service need projections, other PCT Directorate responsibilities, provider and Patient Management Centre performance and national policies.

2.Develop and implement strategic and operational policies and procedures for Patient Experience (including Voluntary Sector), in line with PCT policies and strategic directions.

3.Take lead responsibility devolved via Associate Director, Director and Executive and Clinical Boards and committees of the PCT, for the development and delivery of key NHS reform strategies, introducing change across clinical, managerial and IT solutions-based operational working practises.

4.Act corporately to lead and/or deliver reform in response to the PCT policy, clinical opinion, views from the local community and requirements of others working within the PCT and partner agencies.

5.Develop a strategy for training and raising awareness with the staff of both Trusts in relation to the work of the Patient Experience including the use of staff induction programmes.

Patient Experience

6.Develop and share with the Informatics and Business Intelligence Managers; prioritised, quality controlled, organisational wide views of Patient Experience (including Complaints for Acute Trust only) data requirements, facilitating data collection and development of practical and user-friendly templates and reports for effective PCT operation.

7.Responsibility for a PCT patient experience strategic approach that through innovative and collaborative approaches seeks the views of patients, carers and potential users to ensure that they influence both Trusts' culture and services, and assist in the redesigning of patient processes.

8.Developing systematic mechanisms to elicit the patient/user experience of all services commissioned by the PCT.

9.With the Senior PALS Officer, responsibility for the management of a high quality Joint Trusts' Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) to provide a high quality, highly visible, identifiable and accessible service to patients and carers.
