Our client based in West London is looking for an experienced person to lead a department as Head of Self Directed Support.
As Head of Self Directed Support will have lead responsibility for delivery of transforming Adult Social Care services to a model of self-directed support to deliver choice and control to adults with social care needs.
This involves a whole systems change and will require wholesale re-engineering of business processes across the customer journey, commissioning and procurement and organisational support. It implies significant cultural change with different workforce requirements, IT and access arrangements.
The Head of Self Directed Support will work in partnership with people who use the services and their representatives, with voluntary organisations, private sector and health colleagues to develop and deliver the programme.
Main Duties To ensure that everyone associated with the programme has a clear and shared understanding of what the programme is supposed to deliver, and what the key success factors are. Some of these may change during the life of the programme, and it is equally important that any significant changes are understood and accepted by all of the above groups. To develop and maintain a programme plan covering all aspects of delivery, that accurately reflects the scope and goals of the programme. To ensure that the individual workstream plans accurately reflect the overall programme plan, and that the set of workstream plans fits together to make a coherent overall plan. To review progress against the plan regularly and frequently; deviations and potential deviations have to be identified early and their impact assessed and accounted for by making relevant changes. Maintain up-to-date risks and issues logs and ensure that all significant risks and issues are addressed in updates to the programme plan and/or workstream plans. Obtain regular status reports from workstreams and produce regular reports to Programme Board, including information on KPIs. Create and implement a communications plan that Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounts of all aspects of project financial status and manage within budget. Ensure that stakeholder buy in to, support and are engaged in the programme and promote it whenever the opportunity arises and support them in delivering on their own commitments to the programme. Keep abreast of national developments and best practice in self-directed support models and ensure the programme in H&F reflects best practise. To assess and evaluate the impact of self-directed support on outcomes for users under the Our Health Our Care Our Say outcomes framework and carry out equalities impact assessment on the programme.
Required Skills Experience of social care, sound understanding of policy & legal framework Understanding self directed support and its relevance to national & council strategies Strong Leadership skills to manage small teams to support programme delivery Proven track record in managing large & complex change programmes success Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to effectively influence a range of stakeholders Skilled in managing multi disciplinary budgets Ability to work flexibly as part of teamwith energy, creativity & determination Computer literate,good working knowledge of relevant applications Understanding of social care computer systems
