A local council based in East London/Essex are looking to recruit and experienced Health and Safety Advisor.
As a Health and Safety Advisor your duties will be to:
· Maintain up to date knowledge of current and proposed legislation, both criminal and civil, relating to health and safety issues, in order to interpret, evaluate and advise management on the implications of such legislation on service delivery.
· Promote and assist managers in determining safe working practices through risk assessment and effective management systems.
· Undertake site visits, inspections of any Council workplace, operation or activity.
· To carry out research for health and safety projects.
· To study trends from accident information and target areas for guidance.
· Assist managers to identify training needs to ensure health and safety competence. Have input into the development of training programmes, evaluate training provided. Assist in the delivery of training as required.
To be successful for this role you must either have a NEBOSH qualification or NVQ Level 3 in Occupational Health & Safety. You must also have similar experience with a Health and Safety advisory role preferably within a local authority.
