The aim of this role is to assess whether people are owed a statutory duty under the 1996 Housing Act, Part VII, ensuring that all assessments are undertaken efficiently, quickly and conducted in a sympathetic manner.
You will interview applicants, take detailed statements, conduct enquiries with outside agencies. You may be required to visit applicant's homes and other private addresses in order to confirm homelessness, negotiate with licensors and evaluate the domestic situation.
You will prepare decision letters on application, explain decisions to applicant and inform them of their right to review.
Where the Council has a statutory duty, you will authorise temporary accommodation bookings, obtain any relevant medical information and investigate any refusal of temporary accommodation.
To apply you must have previous experience in an identical role, excellent knowledge of the Housing Act and a current CRB.
