My client, based in West Sussex is looking for a Homelessness Officer to cover an extended period of absenteeism.
Main duties are:
You will need to have good communication skills and be sensitive to peoples needs
You will be liaising with social services, local council, housing benefits, housing charities and sometimes the police to provide accommodation.
You may also liaise with support groups, rehabilitation centres, medical centres and healthcare services putting people in touch with the right support groups and welfare support.
Act to assist in preventing homelessness and repeat homelessness by setting up initiatives and new policies.
Assist in getting appropriate accommodation on both a long term and short term basis
Assess the need of homeless people on an individual basis through an interview process and agree packages of support to prevent homelessness / repeat homelessness.
