Eden Brown are currently recruiting a Income Recovery Officer for a South Yorkshire based Housing Association. The contract is temporary for a period of six months.
The main purpose of the Income Recovery Officers role is to undertake routine activities associated with rent collection / arrears control and income maximisation.
Duties will include:
Rent collection including monitoring rent accounts and taking appropriate action with those in arrears.
Conducting office interviews and some home visits and exchanging correspondence with current and former tenants in arrears.
Intensively managing higher level rent arrears to ensure that these cases are kept to a minimum and to report any problem cases to the income Manager immediately.
Serving notices of seeking possession / to Quit to serious cases at the earliest opportunity to enable cases to be taken to the County court as soon as possible.
Representing the company in the county court on possession cases and appeal hearings.
Liaising closely with and seek the co-operation of outside agencies, i.e. Housing Benefit Agency, CAB, Probation Service, Social Services, Manor Rights advice centre to help resolve rent arrears issues.
Advising tenants of rent charges, payment options, benefit entitlement, rent arrears policy and pro actively manage the rent arrears process.
Ensuring the relevant tenancy files, Orchard system are kept up to date and maintained, in line with policies and procedures.
Ensuring that case files are prepared in anticipation of court cases and attend evictions with bailiffs when necessary.
The successful candidate will have a background within a Housing Association / Local Authority setting, and will have previous experience of managing their own caseload in a debt recovery environment.
