Departmentgrated, multi-disciplinary Service currently needs extra workers to cover newly created, permanent staff and to boost Social Work capacity during the introduction of new developments in this Social Work Team's workingpractisess and wider Departmental, strategic planning.
This large multidisciplinary Service has been integrated since January 2003. It provides health and social care service to adults with a learning disability across the Borough.
Social Workers in the Service carry out care management responsibilities including assessment, service purchasing and monitoring and reviewing as well as leading Safeguarding investigations. Direct Payments and Supported Living are pursued as part of the Department's commitment to transforming the lives of people with learning disabilities. Social Workers also currently staff the Service Duty system, but this is due to be over-hauled by a stream-lined Access system, incorporating administrative staff.
Applicants must be appropriately qualified at interview, have post-qualifying experience and especially experience of working with people with learning disabilities. (Currently, experience of Duty systems would also be helpful). The possession of a car is desirable.
