Types of jobs working with antisocial behaviour & behavioural issues
- Knowledge of antisocial behaviour procedures in a housing context and an understanding of problems experienced by residents in inner cities.
- The ability to maintain close links with partner organisations to complement the aims to deal swiftly and effectively with anti social behaviour.
- The ability to deliver objectives to achieve the service aims.
- An excellent ability to communicate with people
- Have experience of dealing with the public in a customer service role.
- Interpersonal, numeracy, literacy and IT skills
- Health and Safety awareness and the ability to carrying out risk assessments, health and safety checks
- The ability to use your own initiative but also be able to work well as part of a team as you may be liaising with other organisations and assisting service users in accessing additional support services
- You may be working within probation / re-offending services or hostels, housing and supported housing
- It is likely that you will be required to work flexible hours
- You should ideally have a clean drivers licence although this is not essential
What qualifications do I need to work in antisocial behaviour?
- The specific qualifications you will require will depend on the type of role you are applying for or career you are aiming towards
- There are no specific qualifications for entry level positions but most employers will prefer you to have some previous experience working with people either in care homes, the homeless or people in supported housing . Degree, A level and BETEC qualifications in psychology, social care, health care can help.
- Volunteering is a great way to gain this experience if you are just starting a career in working with antisocial behaviour. You can consult your local council for local volunteering opportunities. Do-It are also an informative volunteering guide and a good starting point
- There are various sites with information on antisocial behaviour that will be useful to read before your interview: The Home Office, Antisocial Behaviour in Scotland and the Direct Gov site looks at crime prevention and antisocial behaviour
- A Criminal Records Bureau check is essential to work in this area.
